Applications are now being accepted to establish an eligibility list for future jailer/dispatcher vacancies in Taylor County. The person in this position performs a variety of duties, either involving the care and custody of prisoners confined to the Taylor County Jail or the operation of the Taylor County Sheriff's Department Communication Center, including the 911 system. The position is non-sworn and without powers of arrest.

Qualifications: Applicant must be a high school graduate or GED equivalent. Preferred applicants will be State certifiable as a Correctional Officer and will have college credits in the Police Science or Corrections/Dispatch area. Consideration will be given for prior law enforcement experience. Applicants will be subject to written testing, oral interview, psychological evaluation, medical examination, drug screening and background investigation.
