Arras is also trained in the area of narcotics detection as an aggressive altert patrol dog. He is granted certification in detecting cocaine, heroine and marijuana.
K-9 Arras was called on to assist with many different types of calls for service during 1999. His most rewarding services was the assistance in leading officers to a missing three-year-old child and the apprehension of a poaching suspect for the Department of Natural Resources.
He was called upon to assist the various school districts in Taylor County in maintaining Drug Free School Zones with student locker searches. He further assisted the Prentice, Phillips and Park Falls School districts with locker searches.
Other activities performed by K-9 Arras include routine checks of Huber prisoner lockers and cursory searches of their vehicles while parked in the lot at the Taylor County Sheriff's Department, jail cell searches and escorting disorderly inmates within the jail.
