My father (who is 78) cycled to Srinagar in his youth. Even to this day he talks with pleasure about it. In early 80's I lived in Jammu and travelled a lot around on my motorcycle in that state. Pleasent memories is what I recall. On wayside eating places, I ate with who ever happened to be there. It was a greate experience. People were as hospitable as one would encounter in say Palampur or around Manali. Religion NEVER was a factor anywhere. Why has this changed now.

I wanted to let people know about a recent three-part documentary series on the BBC about Kashmir. It brought home to me the extent of the human suffering in Kashmir, and the plight of the people. It was an incredibly moving, and personal account of the rgion's turmoil, and opened my eyes to a conflict I knew little about. I heartily recommend people watch it if they can.
