Rockenfelder responds to Sidiq's 'anti-abortionist' labeling
by Emily Rockenfelder

To the Editor,

I am writing in response to Farida Sidiq's article that was written about me on Feb. 10th.

First of all, Farida is supposed to be a junior in English literature. The article sounded to me like it was written by someone in early grade school. (Maybe that would explain why Farida has been in college for five years and is only classified as a junior.)

Whatever the case may be, I think she's got a few more years to go before she can write a somewhat decent article.

She had fun making up my quotes when she never wrote what I had actually said word for word. Last time I checked, a quote is something said word for word. Either she thinks she has a great memory or she's putting some thoughts I said together how she sees fit so that she can write a completely biased article.

As an English major, she should know that expletives cannot be printed in a school newspaper.

Both articles I have read by her have a note at the end that said that her article was edited for expletives. That right there tells us her credibility is good.

It makes me feel as though I'm wasting my time responding, but there are some things that need to be examined and corrected due to the impression she may have left on the readers concerning me.

She states that I call myself a feminist and doesn't understand how I could be pro-life.

It scares me to death to know the secrets that the pro-choice society tries to hide from women.

Farida, who claims to be an acknowledged activist, didn't even know what Post Abortion Syndrome (P.A.S.) is. It's funny that she didn't mention that in her biased article.

I am concerned about the well-being of all women. Farida has never met a woman suffering from P.A.S. She's never heard about the graphic nightmares of baby parts haunting post-abortive women, the drug abuse or the extreme guilt and anxiety that leads many women to suicidal thoughts and actions.

I bet she's never looked at the statistics of women who have died of legal abortion.

The National Center for Health Statistics collected a number of 342 women that died from abortion since it was legalized up until 1987. The government stopped collecting these statistics in 1987 due to lack of accurate reporting of deaths as a result of legal abortions.

Does she acknowledge these facts about women? No, Farida's concerned about the families of the doctors in the abortion clinic bombings. She's concerned about a few individuals who are affected vs. the 90 percent of post-abortive women who suffer from P.A.S., the 4,400 children slaughtered each day and the numerous women whom have died from having abortions in those clinics.

So, let me pound your way into reality, Farida. Women are suffering and it is people like you who choose to either cover it up or ignore it. It shocks me to even think that some people call themselves feminists if they are pro-choice. How can a pro-death society create a righteous place for women?

"Oh, I'm sorry, you can't get a job here, you're pregnant. Hey, Planned Parenthood is down the street. It's safe, it's legal. So do it. Be as careless as the man who penetrates and walks away. You aren't valuable in this society unless you can dismiss your sexual responsibilities like a man. Oh, you were raped? That's awful, go to the clinic. You'll be much better off. Put the child on death row instead of the man who violated you. Let our society leave you with the emotional trauma of rape and abortion at the same time. The choice is all yours."

Abortion isn't a choice for women. It's a choice that the patriarchal society has made for women. That's a little food for thought for Farida and the so-called Feminist Coalition.

As for Farida calling me a "Caucasian middle-class suburbanite..." I could stoop to her level and classify her as an Asian middle-class Nazi, but I'm going to look past that and look deeper into her. She's an angry and hurt woman that is hiding the truth from herself and millions of other women. She's weak and she's fearful because she knows the truth and she knows she doesn't speak it.
