Many people have asked me, "why are you pro-life?" I think that I could go on for plenty of pages as to why I am pro-life. But, to boil it down there really is only one difference between those that are pro-life and those that are pro-choice. The belief that life has innate value. Everything else becomes insignificant in comparison. Almost everyone agrees that life has value after child is born. Despite this, there are still people who have varying levels of value; such as those people that believe that people physically or mentally challenged are lesser humans than themselves. Or those that are terminally ill, chronically sick, or elderly-that somehow they are lesser than the rest of us. Remember back to the times of the civil war, when African-Americans were consider substandard; we still deal with many bigoted views of different races. And yes, there are those that believe that the unborn human is somehow lesser of a human than the rest of us. What pro-lifers believe is that every human-no matter who they are, where they are from, how old they are, or what their capacity is-has an unlimited value. That every person is priceless-that there will never be another just like them. Once it has been established that every human is priceless-questions such as abortion are easy to answer. That is the true difference between pro-lifers and pro-choicers, the pro-lifers don't get distracted by anything else. We cannot afford ourselves to be-life is more valuable than anything else. The child as well as the mother's life-because despite the massive number of abortions every day (4400 surgical in the US alone, not to mention those abortions caused by chemical means), it is still not safe mentally or physically for women to undergo. How long will it take for America to learn that the quick fix does not work? What we need is better support for and less discrimination against working mothers! Return to the Main Page |
