guarding the house of an Israeli politician, Aryel Sharon, in Jerusalem.
You may have noticed that these Israelis are black. Surprised? Back in
1984 Israel began "Operation Moses" to rescue persecuted Jews from
Ethiopia during Ethiopia's civil war. Around 30,000 Jews were airlifted to Israel.
There are now about 55,000 Ethiopian Jews in Israel (between 1 and
2 % of the Israeli population).
