This map shows the division of
Palestine into "Palestine" and "Transjordan". Some have used this map
to argue that there is already a Palestinian state in Jordan. The
Balfour Declaration of 1917 promised "the establishment of a Jewish
National Home" in Palestine. Then in 1921, Palestine east of the Jordan
River was separated from the rest of Palestine as an Arab state, closed to
Jewish immigration, leaving only Western Palestine for the Jewish
National Home. Some consider this the partition of Palestine. So the UN partition resolution of 1947 was proposing the
SECOND partition of Mandate Palestine.
