Here Are Some Suggestions for You

More than half the citizens of this state support the Oslo agreements. More than half are opposed to the government’s policies, and the government just ignores them. Bibi ignores us, and from his viewpoint, correctly - why should he take us into consideration if we don’t express our protest? Half the citizens of the state! Think of that: if every one of us only did something, some one thing once a day, once in three days or once a week, we would generate increasing pressure on Bibi and his colleagues. In order to do something you don’t have to be organized - every one has a voice which he or she can use. We can trouble the government and not let it rest without breaking the law and without making too great a sacrifice. If it won’t help, we can increase the pressure. And in the meantime, here are some practical suggestions which are simple to implement and cheap for legal guerrilla warfare. Don’t leap over your heads - without deliberating too much choose one of the clauses in the list and start with it. If you feel like, you can go on with one more and then another one.

Demonstrations:
leftists incline to hesitate and deliberate before leaving their homes for a demonstration. Make yourself a list of five such hesitators before every demonstration, call them, help them decide to leave their homes and suggest that they phone two or three of their acquaintances. The figures are simple - if every one brings just one more person to the demonstration the demonstration will have twice as much people.

Send a letter or postcard to the Coalition Knesset Members:
For example, to the honorable MK Zachi Hanegbi, the Knesset, Kiryat Hamemshala, Jerusalem 91950. You don’t have to write a lot: "Oslo or go home," for example, will bring the message clearly. One postcard can be ignored, thousands of cards arriving make it harder.

Send letters or postcards to opposition MKs for whom you voted
ask them to do more.

Duplicate yourself:
copy this advertisement and post it at work. Make 50 copies and distribute them among cars with pro-peace stickers., send them to friends by e-mail, put it into your internet site, fax it to acquaintances, to offices with whom you work,

Help publish this ad again in the paper:
collect money, call the paper’s ad department and tell them you want this ad to appear again. They will set a price and take care of it. In order to print it in another paper all you have to do is to type it, make a good print on a laser or ink-jet printer, and pay. In order to make sure that they really printed the ad for which you paid, ask them to add some chance number in the empty square at the bottom of the ad. Go for the small local papers, they are cheaper.

Add a protest to all your correspondence with government bodies
For example: "I am forwarding this payment but oppose its being used for building in the settlements," "I am not prepared for my taxes being wasted because of the government’s stupid policies," or any other version.

Send a fax to any government office
(it can be the Prime Minister’s office, but doesn’t have to be), with a simple message against the government policies and for the peace process. This can be sent to any government ministry - the idea is to create pressure upwards within the system. It is desirable to send a large number of faxes so they cannot be ignored. Sample fax numbers: Prime Minister’s office: 02-6513955; Director of the Ministry of Justice: 02-6285438, Mayor of Jerusalem, Ehud Ulmert, 02-6249430.

Phone government offices and express dissatisfaction
Ask them to forward your dissatisfaction. You can call any numbers, but not numbers dealing with the public (it is hard to receive them and also bothers the public). Sample numbers: Office of the Minister of Communications, Limor Livnat: 02-6706304. There are lots of numbers in any telephone book.

Post stickers
Everyone can choose stickers according to his taste and receive quantities from the various organizations dealing with this (you can also cut the organization’s name off the sticker if you don’t want to identify yourself with it). Dor Shalom : 03-5755454, Peace Now: 03-5663291, Labor Party: 03-5209222, Hadash: 03-5280232, Meretz: 03-6360111, Bat Shalom: 02-5631477, Netivot Shalom: 02-5610712, Gush Shalom: 03-5221732.

Hang sign from window or porch
(can be obtained from every organization). Remember what force the signs on the Golan had.

Send a small donation to any of these organizations
(doesn’t have to be large - every time Bibi makes you angry send some organization 20-50 shekels in revenge).

Kibbutzim, moshavim, recreation sites:
hang signs on fences facing the highway. Don’t wait for the elections. For this purpose every slogan can fit.

Israelis abroad:
Send this ad to Israeli friends living abroad. There is no reason why they shouldn’t send faxes or letters from there to the government offices in Israel (it’s harder to ignore something coming from abroad). They could also shower Israeli representatives abroad with letters and faxes that could help the Israeli diplomats send concerned cables to Israel.

Other ideas for protest?
First of all, carry them out and then produce an ad like this one (which duplicates itself), or think of other ways of sharing the ideas with us so that we can act as well.

Every one in his profession
will find a way to express his or her protest. You work in the media, graphics, design, printing, on a paper? Write something, design a sticker, send it to friends, hand it out to cars, suggest that one of the organizations do it. You have a store, an office or a business? Put up a sticker or hang a poster. Don’t be afraid of losing customers, because if we do nothing we shall very soon all lose much more.

Radio:
Call the talk programs on the radio (Galei Zahal: 03-5126666, Reshet Bet: 03-5383311). Instead of hearing only the lunatics from the right, we’ll let them hear some chatter from the left. Tell them, too, about this ad.

Don’t hesitate and don’t be afraid to act. When you will be sitting in the tank and receive the order to go into Gaza, or they inform you that your son has fallen into Hizballah captivity, God forbid, you will be miserable thinking that you sat and did nothing during this period because you were afraid or hesitated.
