I am proud to have been a member of Local 343 United Steelworkers of America for 31 years. Local 343 is the union representing production workers at Novalis Inc. (Alcan Inc. until it changed names in January 2005) in Kingston Ontario, Canada. I have been active in the union since the mid 70's starting as a shop steward and since 1994, Union President. Community unionism had always interested me and in why I have participated a member of the local labour council since 1980. Again serving in many positions to my current position as President of our local council, a position which I have held since 2000. I have long held an interest in Health & Safety and I am an active instructor in Health & Safety programs through the Workers Health & Safety Centre of Ontario, and other Steelworker and CLC union education programs.
Creating these webpages in 1997 (with the guidance of my two sons) is just another interest I find enjoynment in. I hope you enjoy the information provided.
