Stock Announces Candidacy for NDP Nomination
Kingston:
Charlie Stock announced today that he would stand for the position of NDP candidate for the riding of Kingston and the Islands. The nomination meeting will take place on Thursday October 29, Memorial Hall, City Hall starting at 7:00pm.
Mr. Stock is a lifetime resident of Kingston and is employed at NORCOM the former Northern Telecom plant where he has worked for 27 years.
Charlie has a solid background in terms of labour and community involvement including:
President of the Kingston and District Labour Council
Vice-President Ontario Federation of Labour
President/Chair Canadian Auto Workers Local 1837
Chair 1997 United Way Campaign
Co-Chair June 8th, Kingston Community Day of Action
Director United Way serving Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington
" The time to put words into action starts now." said Stock; " The Harris government must be defeated to end the attack on working people and disadvantaged of Ontario. "
Mr. Stock added, " The Conservatives are directly responsible for the length of the disputes at Pathways, Comcare, Kingston Dodge Chrysler. Conservative policies are radical, thoughtless, undemocratic and inhumane. I don't see an alternative vision coming from the Liberal Party".
Charlie anticipates a lively campaign when the election is called and looks forward to debating the other parties in terms of low income needs, education, health care, environment and labour issues.
