In this case, the "silver bullet" actually is silver! Colloidal silver, to be exact. A colloid is a suspension in a fluid of particles small enough to not settle out. Colloidal silver is a suspension of silver particles, usually in water.
Colloidal silver has been shown effective against over 650 diseases (including anthrax and bubonic plague, as well as other choice diseases of biological warfare). Just about every infectious disease known to man cannot survive even tiny concentrations of colloidal silver. Commercial antibiotics are each effective against only a dozen or so diseases. Widespread use (in animal feeds, etc.) have caused the appearance of strains of diseases that resist commercial antibiotics. No disease has ever been known to develop a resistance to colloidal silver. Nor are any ever likely to!
Colloidal silver works by joining itself to the enzyme that one-celled organisms use to metabolize oxygen. (Multi-celled organisms use a different enzyme, and so are immune.) Once the enzyme has been "silvered", it can no longer function, and the bacteria suffocates (usually in two to six minutes).
Colloidal silver is exceptionally safe to use. The EPA lists silver as having "No Toxicity." Silver has been safely used for food utensils for thousands of years. Dentists have been filling teeth with silver for over a hundred years. People have drank hundreds of times the normal dosage every day for years, and had no ill effects. It's virtually impossible to overdose!
Colloidal silver has been used for over a hundred years. Since it was in use before 1938, it is exempt from FDA regulation under the grandfather clause. (They're trying to get around the exemption by claiming that today's colloidal silver is "different" from that of old, as if a chemical element could change!) Even if the FDA does manage to pass a regulation, colloidal silver is so easy to make, any regulation would be impossible to enforce!
Obviously, the biggest loser (besides disease itself) would be the drug makers! Widespread use of colloidal silver would virtually eliminate the market for their outrageously expensive (and dangerous!) antibiotics. Doctors prescribe what they are taught to in medical school, whose curriculum is influenced by the grants they receive from the drug companies! Don't expect the system to solve your problems; they're making too much money from the problem!
Every time a hospital goes on strike, the death rate drops! Only heart disease and cancer kill more people than medical mistakes! Errors in medical treatment kill more people every year than car crashes, falls, drownings, fires, choking, guns and poisons combined!
Silver has been in use for many centuries, preventing and curing diseases. In the Middle Ages, plagues devastated the common people. In 1347 - 1350, one plague killed one third of the population of Europe! The aristocrats seemed to be immune. It was not "divine favoritism"; it was the silver utensils and plates and bowls from which they ate! In the American frontier, people kept their milk from spoiling by dropping a silver coin into it.
Colloidal silver can be used as a disinfectant on cuts and scrapes. It does not irritate or sting. It has even been shown to help the healing process by helping the growth and reproduction of cells! It can be used in the garden to kill fungus. Just spray it on the leaves or pour it into the soil.
Hook the POSITIVE lead to the silver wire. Make sure the wire is clean so the silver particles will go into the water easily. The other wire can be any metal. Atoms will tend to be deposited onto it. Wipe off the negative wire, and rub it until it's shiny if necessary. The deposits can become like a resistor, hindering the current and thus slowing the process.
Distilled water is preferred. A TINY pinch of salt (like a few granules) will speed the process. Sea salt is preferred over processed salt. Anything more than a tiny amount will contaminate the results. Excess salt combines with the silver, forming silver chloride instead of colloidal silver. Bottled spring water or tap water already has enough minerals to need no salt added.
Hydrogen bubbles will come off the negative wire, and silver will go into solution from the positive wire. You might hook up a 24-volt 40 mA sub miniature light bulb in series, so you can check the freshness of the batteries by touching the alligator clips together. Just looking for the bubbles is much easier. Or test the batteries with a volt meter. One set of batteries should last about a year, producing enough colloidal silver for one family.
A five inch piece of 14 gauge silver wire will last for years. Use 99.9% pure silver wire. Higher purities are much more expensive, and are of little benefit. (The impurities in even distilled water are higher than those you'd get from using purer wire.) Sterling silver is only 92.75% pure. Use that only if you can't get any purer silver. If you can't obtain silver wire, a silver coin will work. Dimes, quarters, half dollars, and silver dollars made before 1964 are 90% silver, 9% copper, and 1% zinc. All three are beneficial to the body.
Silver wire can be obtained from electroplating supply houses. Look in the yellow pages under "plating equipment and supplies". Or ask a jeweler how you can obtain silver wire "for electro plating experiments" you'd like to do. A welding and brazing ("silver soldering") supply house may have silver brazing rods available. Electronics stores may have silver wire in stock. Silver is the best conductor known. (Copper is second.)
With 8 ounces of water, and 4 inches of silver wire in the water, this method should produce about 1 part per million of silver colloid per minute of current flow. 10 to 15 parts per million is considered normal. Higher concentrations are not harmful. At 10 ppm, the water should be getting a gray color.
Using distilled water without adding any salt takes longer. You should get 1 part per million for each 5 minutes or so of the much lower current (due to the lower conductivity of distilled water). So instead of 10 to 15 minutes, the process will take more like an hour. The water will start looking yellowish at around 10 ppm. This is because the size of the silver particles is about the same as the wavelength of yellow light.
All of the above assumes that the water is at room temperature. The production rate would double for every 10 degrees above 70 degrees F. If you wish to heat the water, use a CLEAN vessel to avoid contamination, which would produce silver compounds, instead of the metallic silver colloid desired.
The minimum doseage of 10 ppm silver colloid considered effective is to drink one tablespoon a day for four days, then one teaspoon a day from then on. No ill effects have ever been noted from doseages of over 100 times those amounts. Since it's so easy and inexpensive to make, continuous use to prevent diseases might be a good idea (especially with the threat of biological warfare). However, starting this at birth might cause one to never develop an immunity to the usual diseases. So you might want to use colloidal silver (in large doses) at the onset of any symptoms.
Some (like the FDA, the lapdog of the pharmaceutical companies) claim that argyria can result from use of colloidal silver. Argyria is when the skin takes on a slight blue color from taking EXTREMELY high doses of silver. Aristocrats of the Middle Ages sometimes had a slight bluish tint to their skin. This is where we get the term "bluebloods." There are no other symptoms or effects of argyria (except the absence of disease).
The term "argyria" comes from the greek word for silver, "argyros", and its latin descendant, "argentum". That is why the chemical symbol for silver is Ag, and the French word for money is "argent."
Silver colloid should be stored in GLASS bottles in a dark place (inside a cabinet or box). Ten minutes of strong sunlight would oxidize the silver (turn it into tarnish). Three days of light inside an average house would have the same effect. Plastic bottles (except empty hydrogen peroxide bottles) tend to emit contaminants that react with the silver and use it up.
Properly stored, colloidal silver should last about a month. Of course, the best guarantee of quality is to make it fresh.
The batteries needed to make colloidal silver have a shelf life (usually printed on the package). Keeping them in a refrigerator makes them last considerably longer. Rechargeable batteries may also be used. Old car batteries (too weak to crank an engine) can be hooked up in series to get thirty volts. Use a volt meter to measure the voltage a battery actually provides.
Colloidal silver has been in use for over 100 years. Studies published in medical journals for the entire period have never noted any ill effects or interactions with any drugs. The major airlines, NASA, and the Soviets all use silver in their water filtration systems. Silver has been observed to block the replication of viruses, and even cause cancer cells to return to normal! It is known to speed the healing of wounds by 50%!
Colloidal silver may very well be the most effective, safest, and least expensive remedy of all!
