So, why this site is a pro-Monarchy one?

Well, there are several reasons.

First of all, you can ask those people, old enough to remember the Monarchy days (but make sure they are not old members of the Communist Party), about their opinion, and with small exceptions they will all tell you it was the best period in the history of Romania. During this period the entire country was finally reunited, the economy was growing - thus more foreign investors and jobs, new cultural and architectural currents were aproached, in a word everything was great.

In 1946, one year after the war, in Romania were organized elections. The Communist Party was a very small and insignificant one, but they took part in the balots and surprisingly they won. The other political parties expressed their protests against the falsified results, but the only thing happening was they've start being targeted for persecution by the Communist Party.

In 1947, when King Michael the I -st was forced to abdicate as described in our Contemporary History section, the Communist Party, helped by the Russians' armies presence in the country abolisehed the old Constitution and imposed a new one.

While such an action was considered "legal" in France (the XVIII th - XIX th century) or Russia (November 1917) were real revolutions overthrowned the Monarchies, we cannot say the same thing about Romania. Considering the size of the Communist Party (just couple thousand members) and the presence of the Russian troups all over the country, the so called "popular decision" of abolishing the Monarchy and the Constitution was in fact the Russian will. So, declaring Romania as a Republic was ilegal and all the decisions taken after December 1947 until today are null and void in front of all local, international or spiritual instances. Therefor, the main task of a real democratic government who wants to become legal from all points of view, will be to invite his Majesty back to Romania, proclaim him a King and Romania as a Constitutional Monarchy. Only after that a referendum can be organized to decide wheter Romania will become a Republic or it will remain a Monarchy.

If you want to learn more about a Constitutional Monarchy and it's benefits you can check the economical and political situation in countries such England, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Japan. I have been talking with diferrent citizens of these countries, and a common idea arised. Their King or Queen is considered the best Ambassador they might have.

Kings or Queens don't have political powers and the Royal expences are pretty much as big as the ones for a President.

A King or a Queen under a Constitutional Monarchy is never obliged to any political party like a president is. They are not elected and they don't belong to any party, therefor nobody can acuse them of supporting a specific group or only the decisions/ideas innitiated by a group. They are above all minor or major political clinches/arguments and only their prestige is what calm down spirits, not their inexistent powers.
