TEAR DOWN THE PRISON WALLS OF SILENCE SURROUNDING THESE BROTHERS AND SISTERS
Stress in the prisons often delays responses from the political prisoners. However, keep writing--your letters are appreciated. To prove this point, I quote from a recent letter received by a 4th grade girl who had written 15 letters before finally receiving this heart-felt response:
"...I'm sorry it's taken me so long to write you. Things in this prison have been stressful for the past six months. It may not seem like much but any little change in here becomes an ordeal in and of itself. The administration had to prepare room for about 100 new women that are being transfered from Washington DC...we have all been double bunked and it's been pretty hectic... Hopefully things will get better in '98. I received a lot of Christmas greetings and it made me feel warm inside."
Please know your letters are appreciated, and keep writing to these men and women who continue to take their often lonely stand against the colonial domination of their country by the USA. Thank you!
Here are a few suggestions as to what you can send the prisoners: Letters are greatly appreciated, paperback books (hard backs not allowed), magazines, a subscription to a newspaper, and of course a money order wouldn't hurt, it might make life just that little bit easier.
