Chinese Dissident Faces Possible Death Sentence

Zhang Shanguang, a Chinese dissident who has already spent seven years in jail for campaigning for labor rights, is on trial for "endangering state security." Apparently, he told Radio Free Asia, a U.S. government-funded network, about excessive taxes, as well as about recent protests by farmers.

National Council of Churches compares Chinese
Christians to "nuts in Atlanta" who "disrupt traffic"

Andrew Young and a small delegation from the National Council of Churches recently traveled to China and claimed that they found "no sign of religious repression." He also compared jailed Chinese Christians with "nuts in Atlanta that we've put in jail for preaching on street corners and disrupting traffic" and asked how he could "make judgements on a nation this large."
