Write the President
Write President Clinton at the address below and ask him to do something about China's human rights record. It would be useful to bring up the following points:
- While Clinton says he supports human rights, he is putting no real pressure on China.
- Clinton claims to support freedom of religion and freedom of speech, and China completely denies both of these freedoms.
- Clinton has said he supports gay rights, yet in China, homosexuals are imprisoned and mistreated.
- One of the most precious elements of our government is having the punishment fit the crime, yet Clinton is actively dealing with a country that imprisons and tortures people for the smallest "offenses".
If you don't want to write a letter, his phone number is also listed. However, an actual letter would be better, since it carries more weight.
