Ninety minutes of entertaining football were sealed by a solitary goal by Mark Galea which was enough for the Greens to notch their second consecutive win and join Birkirkara at the top of the table.

Hibs have only themselves to blame for this defeat. They were awarded a penalty six minutes from time which was missed by David Carabott as the Floriana goalie, Matthew Camilleri dived to his left to block the shot.

The Greens sorely missed the agile dribbling of Victor Egere and the creativity of Joe Brincat both injures. Despite the absence of these two key players, the side was still good enough to tumble an organised Hibs side

The Floriana supporters gave a deserved ovation to goalkeeper Camilleri who turned out to be the hero after his vital save from the penalty sopt. the youngster is proving to be an asset to the Floriana side in his first season in the top flight.

Hibs shared the exchanges with their opponents throughout the match. Galea's goal and the missed penalty proved thier downfall. Silvio Vella and John Buttigieg had a very good game in the heart of the defence.

The Paolites reaction was immediate and a minute later, Crawley tried to head home a Darren Attard pass but the ball missed the net by a whisker.

David Carabott tried his luck with a fierce volley from outside the penalty area in the 16th minute but the shot was central and Camilleri had no difficulty in saving the effort

In the 21st minute the Greens combined a good move. Gregory ran down the left flank and passed towards Veselji who was floored on the edge of the box. From the resultant freekick, the Hibs' defence once more blocked Buttigieg's attempt.

On the other end, Mangion passed the ball to Crawley who unleashed a powerful shot which was well saved by Camilleri.

Ten minutes before half time Hibs had a good opportuninty to break the deadlock. Attard lobbed the ball in the penalty area and Carabott tried to drive home with a powerful volley that soared up high above the corssbar.

The Greens started the second half on a positive note an tried to push their opponents into their own half. In the 49th minute, Veselji seemed to have been pushed by Delia in the penalty area but referee Zammit waved play on.

Seconds later Hibs seriously threatened the Greens' defence. Scerri crossed a low ball towards the penalty area but both Carabott and Crawley failed to tap home and somehow the Grees' defenders cleared the ball.

Floriana took the lead in the 70th minute. Martin Gregory was the mastermind behind the goal. He controlled the ball, dribbled past the defender and rolled the ball into the penalty area towards Mark Galeaa who first miskicked the ball but was agile enough to beat Vella with his second touch.

In the 84th minute Hibs were awarded a penalty after substitute Pierre Brincat floored Crawley in the penalty area. However, youngster Camilleri brought the house down with a brilliant block off Carabott's shot to keep Hibs at bay.

It was a squandered chance by the Paolites and although they tried hard to obtain the equaliser in the dying seconds of the match, the Greens did not wilt under pressure and held on for a precious win.
