The Skyhawks were the laughing stock of the WLAF in 1991, losing all their games. Instead of playing on, the team disbanded after their first season. The league gave the vacant spot to Columbus, Ohio. The futility of the Skyhawks did not harm pro football in the Carolinas; Charlotte is now the home of the Carolina Panthers.
