Welcome the Westminster College Equestrian Team Homepage. Although this page
is still under construction, feel free to browse. This page includes
information about joining the WCET, what the WCET is all about, WCET
show results and Little Neshannock Stables (home to the WCET).
What We Do...
The WCET is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA),
competing against 10 other colleges and universities in the region.
Westminster rides in the english hunter style of competition, jumping over
a course of eight fences at heights of 2ft-2'6 for the novice level, 2'3-2'9 for
the intermediate level, and 2'6-3'3 at the open level. All members also compete
"on the flat", which consists of walking, troting, and cantering (for the
upper levels) both directions of the ring while being judged on a strange
horse. Team members are placed according to their level, including levels for the
beginner rider who has never been on a horse before.
BUT... (for those visitors who have been to any equine events before) The Equestrian team that is hosting the show provides all of the horses and tack. This means that the WCET members ONLY provide their boot, breeches, helmet and experience to ride on strange horses and in strange saddles.
Who We Are...
The 1996-1997 WCET officers are as follows:
Captain: Jackie See (6th season with the team)
Co-Captain: Aimee Eshbaugh (4th season with the team)
Treasurer: Cynthia Shaffer (3rd season with the team)
Secretary: Toni Janosko (3rd season with the team)
Points Secretary: Kate Perna (6th season with the team)
The WCET has grown from only eight members in the first year to twenty-five
members riding in the fourth year of the team's existance. In the 1996- 1997 season, the team
has roughly ten members participating in the "art" of Intercollegiate riding.
