The Wizzer will try to provide timely (monthly) news about meetings, schedules, "Open Gyms", banquets, fundraisers etc. We will also try to provide inspiration for wrestlers to live by. We will also, of course, take comments and suggestions.
VERONA 12/2/08
Tuesday night was parent's night when the Lancers hosted the Verona Wildcats. Although Lancers came out on the short end of a 14-64 score, the young Lancers showed a good deal of heart and a lot of promise against a perennial wrestling power. Dante Schiro (JV 145), Jermaine Ward (112), Keith Dahl (135) and Mickey Huttenhoff (215) were victorious for the Lancers. Terrance Barmore, suffering from blood clots in his neck and lungs, is not expected to return to the line up until January.
PARKER JV INVITATIONAL 12/6/08
The day started with a little excitement when the team bus nearly turned over and wound up in a ditch at the I-90/Hwy 26 interchange entering Janesville about a half an hour before weigh ins. Fortunately catastrophe was avoided and all on board were uninjured. The 911 dispatch was kind enough to find a Janesville city bus to transport us all to the meet. The young Lancers (all frosh) had a fine day and wrestled well. Top finisher for the team was Casey Seelow at 152 with a 2nd place medal.
SUN PRAIRIE INVITATIONAL 12/13/08
No buses in the ditch this week! 8 Lancers participated in this very tough, grueling meet for the young Lancers. Standout performances for the Lancers were Paul Frisch and Mickey Huttenhoff. Paul finished the day 3-2 and runner up in the Bronze Division. Mickey finished the day 3-2 also and was the Silver Division Champion. Jermaine Ward was 2-3, Dylan Breunig was 2-3, Sam Thor 3-2, Ryan Fischer 2-3, and Koji Sano was 1-1. Keith Dahl and Terrance Barmore are still out with injuries.
