 The play-off race is now in full swing, and Mike Vernon and the Sharks are right in the play-off drive. The Sharks, as of March 30 are 1 point out of a play-off spot with a game in hand on Edmonton. The Sharks have been hot lately beating L.A and Dallas on back to back nights. Mike, who didn't play against Dallas, and will not play against St. Louis on Monday is back home in the Bay Area as his wife has given birth to their second child Matthew. He is expected to be back in the line-up against Pittsburgh on the first of April. Mike, after a slow start, has really started to plat well. He has a 2.56 GAA, a 89.4 save percentage, and a career high 5 shutouts in 54 starts thus far. He also has a WINNING record , not half bad for a San Jose goaltender. The Sharks will probably have to play above .500 hockey for the rest of the season or else the post season could be spent on the golf course. Mike definitely is the guy you want in net down the stretch, and San Jose coach Darryl Sutter agrees. He has been quoted as saying Mike has been the MVP of the Sharks this year, which I do agree with. I personally (not be Mike Vernon) will be at the San Jose-Toronto game on April 4th in Toronto in the nose bleed section. So if you see a guy in the Vernon jersey in the greys that will be me, going crazy, and cheering on the San Jose Sharks and Mike Vernon.
