I haven't done a proper match report because I was too busy watching the game. The game, though, was pretty good, although I didn't think it really got going till the final period, by which time Nottingham had well won it! There was a godd atmosphere, with good contingents from both Nottingham and Ayr. The Jockos were done up just like at Culloden, and probably felt just as depressed afterwards! Still, at least they made the bloody final! I was very disappointed that Norman "I hate all this loud music and modern approach to the game, do you know I quite like cricket?" de Mesquita was the main announcer, helping to dampen the atmosphere a little. It must have been terrible for the arena staff, with him no doubt turning up complaining that he'd much rather have the game played in a dingy, leaking, decrepit, closed rink, "where the game belongs", then complaining all the way through the game about all "this loud pop music" that so ruins the atmosphere, and finally complaining as the two teams were presented the medals that they weren't a patch on Richmond and Wembley when they won they were at their peak......several centuries ago!!! (Mind you, I'm right with him when he complains of Squeelers getting up and doing the Macarana. What's wrong with "If you all hate Gulidford clap your hands"?) Still, despite what it may seem like, he did not ruin an otherwise good night. Apologies must go to the Panthers fan in front of me, who got a load of stick from all the other Bees fans just because he was standing up and cheering on his team. All I can say is at least you supported your team. Mind you, the bloke in question was so smashed he probably doesn't even remeber what I'm talking about. Goal of the night went to Ayr's Jiri Lala, when he managed to skate past two defenders beautifully and put the puck calmly past Robins. No more than you'd expect from the 38-year old experienced winger (says Alex the expert who read it all in the programme last night!). So, that's all I can be bothered to put.
