I mean, I guess I wasn't really thinking about retiring, but after the second surgery I started thinking about what if it didn't work, and what I was I going to do. ... March 2000

*Corina Ungareanu's team mates and coaches did not stand by her in her decision to pose in Play boy. Corina says "Maybe people are shocked by the pictures, but I don't think it has cast a shadow over gymnastics - in fact, it's more of a light. Svetlana Khorkina posed for Playboy in Moscow and she's still on the Russian team." The Romanian federation withdrew Corina's invertation to a ceremony honouring the countries top gymnasts and the president Niclae Vieru, refused to pay her her prize money from the Worlds, saying "Why should we give her that money, didn't she earn enough from Playboy?" (he was later fired.) Corina's teammates wouldn't have gone to the ceremony if Corina had been there.

*Lavinia milosovici and Gina Gogean both left their coaching jobs at Deva. Gina resigned and says "You have to make huge sacrifices for a job like that and I don't think I can handle that right now. Lavinia says "The Federation asked us to work in Deva but now they don't want us to continue. Our group has been disbanded so me and Gina have gone home. The Federation hasn't even paid our pathetic salary for four months. It's very clear that they don't care about us. I regret the moment that I decided to stay here instead of going to America, I thought I could do something here in my own country"

*Oskana Chusovitina gave birth to a son called Alisha. She says that she may still compete again.
