BETTING TO RATINGS PRICES

This is intended as a guide to one approach to Betting to Prices for punters who may not have tried it before.
This method of wagering can also be used with prevailing market odds (i.e. TAB).

The principle of the method is that the likelihood  a runner winning is reflected in it's Odds Percentage.
To calculate a selections percentage divide the odds into 100.
e.g. $4.00 = 100% divided by 4 = 25%
So in theory a $4 chance has a 25% chance of winning.
Another example: $2.50 = 100/2.5 = 40% chance of winning.

You can use an assessed ratings price to calculate the size of your wager.
The principle being the more likely a runner is to win then the more you put on that runner.
the more risky a runner might be, then we would have less wagered on it.

To do this method we bet the odds percentage of the selection.

Operating with a possible $100 Bank to wager on that selection we decide how much of the $100 we will risk.
We set the $100 as the 100% mentioned above.
So out of the $100....
For a $4.00 chance we would bet $25 (aka 25%).
Another example: For the $2.50 chance we would bet $40 (aka 40%).

Now if this bet size is too large or 2 small for you simply divide or multiply all the bets for the day by a comfort factor.
To work out this factor I think "How much would I prepared to wager on an even money chance and feel comfortable?"
If the answer was $20 then I calculate my divisor 100/$2 = $50
Now my $20 is what fraction of $50?
Divide the 20 into the 50 = 50/20 = 2.5
2.5 is now my comfort Factor Divisor.

All the Bets for the day calculated by the "100 divided by Odds Price" method above are now divided by 2.5 for the day.
So for my $4 chance it becomes "$25 divided by 2.5"
My Comfort Factor Wager is now $10.00

You can use any Divisor amount you wish, but I do suggest to choose the divisor by comparing to an Even Money ($2) bet as above.
Of course if you wish you could choose to use a multiplier to increase the comfortable bet size if applicable.
