Western wrapped up second place in the Canterbury premier soccer league after staving off a late challenge from Rangers.
The two sides finished level on 45 points -- eight behind runaway leader Halswell United.
But Western took the second place prize-money on goal difference.
Harry McCosh's Western team ended its league campaign on a high note on Saturday with a 3-0 win over a committed New Brighton side.
Phil Schaapveld gave Western a 1-0 lead in the first half and Eugene Archer and Gary Joynson scored in the second spell.
Two of Rangers' stalwarts got on the score-sheet in a 2-1 win over fourth-placed Christchurch United at Rangers Park. James Souter crashed home a header from a corner and Jason Stapley added to Rangers' lead mid-way through the second half.
United's young Brazilian striker Gervaiso Andreao reduced the deficit late in the match.
