Rangers required two second-half goals to beat Avon United in a Canterbury premier league soccer match on Saturday.
Craig Squire gave Avon a 1-0 lead before Rangers equalised after the interval through Shem Banbury.
Young striker Adam Styles, who had another good game for Rangers, grabbed the winning goal.
Rangers moved into second place, although Christchurch United has a game in hand, against unbeaten competition leader Halswell at English Park on Wednesday night.
