Canterbury premier soccer league pace-setter Halswell United has had its lead cut to three points after it was held to a 2-2 draw by Rangers on Saturday..
Playing its third match in seven days, Halswell tackled Rangers without injured trio Kuni Hosoi, Aaron Nixon and Morgan Edwards, and suspended centre-back Keith Purcell.
Rangers grabbed a 1-0 lead at Rangers Park when Halswell goalkeeper Chris Lee could not keep Tony Wilson's corner out of the net.
Halswell's striker Keith Grosvenor swooped twice in the first half, extending his goals total to 30, including 21 in the Canterbury league.
The second half proved a tough slog for both teams, but Rangers finished strongly and equalised through a penalty by Wilson, who sent Lee the wrong way.
