Meanwhile, Spanish striker Jacobo Egues scored a peach of a goal to ensure Rangers' victory over Nelson Suburbs at Cuthberts Green.

Rangers were 1-0 up through a long-range Deane Hutchinson effort on 34 minutes, but Nelson was still well in the game deep into the second half.

But Egues had looked classy, pacey and dangerous all game and it was only right he finished things off with a superb goal.

Egues left Nelson's talented Solomon Island midfielder Baddley Tariga for dead in the middle of the park then carried the ball to just outside the edge of the box.

As defenders closed on him, Egues laid the ball off to Will Owen - who returned the favour with a perfect wall pass.

Egues capped things off and made the game safe by thumping the ball emphatically past John Brydon in the Nelson goal.

Rangers had struggled to find much rhythm while Nelson had always looked likely to nick a goal - particularly through Michael Day.

But Egues and Adam Styles were all quality going forward - while Russell Kamo hustled and bustled and looked great on the ball - and Rangers deserved their victory. All the weekend's other Federation Six Premier league matches were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
