Rangers too strong for MC United

Hotel Ashburton Mid Canterbury United took on league front runners Rangers at Robilliard Park yesterday, a team with players such as ex-All White goalkeeper Allan Stroud.

Mid Canterbury started very well and set most of the pace in the first 25 minutes, creating several chances which, unfortunately were not converted.

Rangers then swept onto attack and netted their opening goal, following it immediately with a second.

Mid Canterbury held strong until just on half-time when Rangers scored again through to some poor marking from a corner.

The second half saw the home side start strongly, but after numerous chances they were still unable to find the back of the net.

Rangers bagged three more goal before full-time to inflate the score to 6-0.

Contrary to what the score suggests, Mid Canterbury played some good soccer for 45 minutes, but with the class of Rangers, they took their chances and now lead the competition with Halswell.

Mid Canterbury faces a tough task in the coming week when it plays Western on Saturday and then Rangers again next Wednesday night.
