Rangers won the womens section of the Canterbury Draught Rangers 5-a-side tournament, with Avonhead runners-up. Mico won the mens section with Brando's runners-up.

The Federation 6 U18 side drew all 3 of its matches (against Northland/North Harbour, Auckland, and Waikato/BoP) at the Taupo tournament, to finish third of the four teams.
The clubrooms at Eric Adam Park are to become smokefree as of 1 March 2002. The field at Eric Adam Park is closed for 6 weeks from 19 December to allow maintenance of the pitch to prepare it for the 2002 season.

Rangers' Tom Sadd is named in the 16-player squad for the Federation 6 U18 side to play in the 18th Grade Federation Tournament in Taupo this weekend. Also in the squad are former Rangers' players Russell Kamo and Ben Light. The team officials all have former connections with Rangers: Mike Poole (coach), Martin Stewart (manager), Brian Lay (physio). The team will play Federation 3 (Waikato/BoP), Federation 1 (Northland/North Harbour), and Federation 2 (Auckland). The tournament is a preparation for the National Youth League that will commence in February and will comprise the seven Federations plus a NZ Academy team. This Federation 6 squad (for the Taupo tournament) is not necessarily the final squad for the Youth League.

Rangers are knocked out in the quarter-finals of the English Cup losing 1-0 at Halswell. Reserves finish runners-up in their league. In the Uncle Toby's Womens National Knock-Out Cup Rangers beat Westland United, from Hokitika, twelve-nil. Mens Division One are eliminated from their knock-out, Division Two are top-seeds going into the quarter-finals, Presidents B scrape through to quarter-finals despite a loss, Spikes lose 3-7 to Masters A in the Masters Cup.
Alan Stroud and Chris Peck have been named in the Federation 6 Squad to play the Football Kingz at QEII No. 2 on 26 August.

Rangers finish second in Federation 6 Premier League after a 3-0 win at Christchurch City Reserves and Halswell win 4-0. Alan Stroud celebrated his 40th birthday by coming up-field out of goal to score a penalty with the last kick of the match after Shem Banbury's solo run was ended with a blatant foul. Prior to that Mike Harvey had scored with a header from acorner in the 54h minute and Andrew Ellis finished a messy corner with 9 minutes remaining. Stroudy also maintained a clean sheet with some good saves from one-on-one situations. Rangers line-up:

Reserves beat New Brighton 7-0, Div 2 maintain unbeaten season with 3-2 win at Kaiapoi, a Joe Kearns hat-trick ensures a top-half finish for Presidents B helping them to a 4-2 win over title winners Western.

Rangers guarantee a top three finish in Federation 6 Premier League with a 1-0 win over Western at Eric Adam Park. The goal came from a corner in first half injury time. It appears to be credited as an own goal. Rangers are now three points behind Halswell with one match remaining, unfortunately there is a fourteen goal deficit in goal difference. Rangers line-up:

Rangers move to second in Federation 6 Premier League with a 1-0 win at home over Christchurch United. Nathan Wood scored just after half-time and Alan Stroud had to make some great saves as the game progressed. Western lost 1-0 to Avon and Halswell beat Marlborough 3-0. Rangers need to make up a deficit of 6 points and 15 goals (in terms of difference) with matches against Western and Christchurch City. Halswell only have one match remaining v Western.
Federation 6 Women finish second at the National Tournament in Auckland with a 5-0 win over Central Federation. Rangers' Tina Bosscher and Leigh Alexander were among the goalscorers. Clare Warner was Fed 6 player of the day. The tournament was won by Capital Soccer.

Federation 6 beat Soccer 2 (Auckland) 1-0, in what is regarded as an upset, at the Womens National Tournament in Auckland. Rangers' Tina Bosscher is named Player of the Day for Federation 6 and Leigh Alexander made an appearance as a substitute in the 57th minute. Federation 6 (coached by Fred Simpson) are joint second with Soccer 2, behind unbeaten Capital Soccer.

Rangers beat Marlborough United 3-2 away with a last minute goal from Andrew Ellis to remain fourth in the Federation 6 Premier League. Shem Banbury opened the scoring for Rangers after 2 minutes with a header following a short corner from Andrew Steel and Chris Peck (prior to Chris suffreing from a recurrence of his pelvic injury and having to be susbtituted). Marlborough equalised 2 minutes later through Keith Morrison. In the 18th minute a Marlborough player handled near the edge of the penalty area and Andrew Steel scored from the spot. Keith Morrsion equalised again with 10 minutes left in the half. Marlborough had a player sent off for a second bookable offence in the 78th minute, and with 5 minutes remaining Neville Graham (from the Div 1 Development squad) made his Rangers debut coming on for Blazej. Rangers line-up:

Rangers are champions of Mens Division 2 and Masters Division 1 after both sides beat their respective Ferrymead Bays' opponents to win their grades and are both yet to lose a match this season. Good wins for the reserves (8-1 at Avon) and Division 1 (2-0 over Western).

Rangers stay fourth in Federation 6 Premier League with a 4-1 win over Nelson Suburbs at Eric Adam Park. Henry Faarodo opened the scoring for the visitors in the first minute after a defensive lapse. Rangers had many chances before Andrew Ellis equalised with a header from a corner after 37 minutes. Within a minute a great run from Chris Peck ended with him slotting home Rangers' 100th goal in the Federation 6 Premier League to make it 2-1. A Gavin Jeffs header made it 3-1 after 67 minutes following good work from Shem Banbury and Adam Styles. Playing into the wind in the second half it was 4-1 after 75 minutes with a Shem Banbury goal. Rangers continued to dominate until the final whistle with Nelson only creating 2 chances during the match. A great performance from the home side. Rangers line-up:

Rangers lose 1-0 at home to Halswell in a top of the table Federation 6 Premier League clash. A Keith Grosvenor goal sent Rangers down to fourth place (with a game in hand). Reserves also lost to Halswell, but Masters A beat Halswell.
An injury depleted Division 2 side won 4-0 at Rangiora, and Presidents B had a 6-0 win over HSOB.

Rangers remain third in Federation 6 Premier League after a 7-2 win over Nomads United at Tulett Park. The half-time score was 2-1 to Nomads. Rangers scorers: Jason Stapley 3 (incl. 1 pen), Shem Banbury 2, Tony Wilson 2. It was Jason Stapley's final match for the club prior to his heading to Europe for his OE. Hopefully, Jason will return to the Rangers in the future.
Reserves beat Nomads 9-0 to remain top of their league. Dipsticks (Presidents C) beat their arch-rivals, Nomads 4-0. Division 2 beat Technical 3-1 to remain top. Both Masters teams had wins, with Masters A remaining top of their division.

Julian McBrearty added a goal to give Rangers a 5-2 half-time lead with Blazej Wieclawski scoring for Rangers in the second half. Rangers move to second in Federation 6 Premier, 1 point behind Halswell, after a 3-0 home win over Mid-Canterbury United. A first half goal to Adam Styles and one in the second half from Gavin Jeffs, the scoring was completed in injury time when Julian McBrearty scored from the rebound after a long range Chris Peck shot hit the post. Rangers hit the post or crossbar 3 times in the first half, while Stroudy judged a Mid-Canty shot to perfection, leaving it as it looped over him and hit the post in the second half, following a magnificent well-held save in the first half. Rangers go second in Federation 6 Premier with a 3-1 win over Western. Halswell beat Universities 3-0 to remain top (by 3 points), but Rangers have a game in hand (and also play Halswell on Monday). Rangers scored first after 5 minutes, Jason Stapley from a penalty after a Western hand-ball. Adam Styles delivered a cross in the 33rd minute that was deflected in by Western's Rennell to make it 2-0. Adam Styles got Rangers' third with a header in the 74th minute. Andy Daffin ruined Stroudy's clean sheet (that he had worked hard for) with a consolation in the 86th minute. A great performance from all the Rangers' players tonight. Rangers line-up:

Western lost to Chch United 2-1, Halswell won 1-0 at Nomads and City Reserves won 3-0 at Avon (hey, Stroudy, the City keeper kept a clean sheet). Goalscorers for Rangers, McBrearty 2, Stapley, Jeffs, G. Killick. Rangers Reserves blew a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with Universities. 3rd team go top of Mens Division 1 with a 6-0 win over Nomads. Snows' team win a game in Division 2!!! 3-1 over Hornby United. Presidents B blow a 1-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Kaiapoi. Masters A win, Masters B claim a 3-2 loss after being 2-1 up , but Terry Blacktopp has the Spikes as 3-2 winners! The Dipsticks are still the worst team in NZ as their grade didn't play today.

The Press is reporting that Alan Stroud is to play for Rangers against Universities on Saturday and then for Christchurch City against Tauranga City in the National League on Sunday, following City's Adam Highfield leaving for Australia. New Zealand U17 lost 3-0 to Australia U17 in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff in Australia. Russell Kamo played for NZ but Tom Sadd didn't.
Rangers remain third in Federation 6 Premier League (now with a game in hand over the top two) after Western beat Nomads 4-0 and Halswell beat New Brighton 8-0.

Rangers beat Nomads United 2-0 to go 3rd in Federation 6 Premier League. Goals to Chris Peck (56 min) and a Tony Wilson free kick (83 min). Most hilarious moment was recent transfer from Rangers to Nomads, Andy Saunders, attempting to take a free kick awarded to Rangers! Alan Stroud kept a clean sheet against fellow veteran former All White, Allan Carville. Chris Brandon received Rangers player of the day in a game where Rangers dominated possession. Rangers line-up:

NZ U17 beat Vanuatu 3-1 away to win their Oceania Group in World Cup qualifying. NZ second goal scored by Russell Kamo. NZ will play Australia to determine the Oceania qualifier for the finals (in Trindad & Tobago). The first leg will be played in Canberra, Australia on Wednesday 4th April 2001 with a 7.00pm kick-off local time. The return leg is at Bill McKinlay Park, Auckland on Sunday 8th April 2001 with a 12.00 noon kick-off, as curtain raiser to the Qantas National League match between University Mount Wellington and Metro.

New Zealand U17 beat Tonga U17, 8-0 in an U17 World Cup qualifier in Vanuatu, 3 goals to Rangers' Russell Kamo (21, 67, 84 minutes) and one to Tom Sadd (85 minute).
Rangers beat Avon United 3-2 at Eric Adam Park in the opening round of Federation 6 Premier League. Gavin Jeffs headed Rangers into the lead midway through the first half. Avon equalised after 35 minutes, shortly afterwards Jason Stapley was taken off injured with a cut above his right eye requiring stitches. Andy Steel scored the rebound from his penalty kick that was parried by Richard Wilson after 60 minutes and Avon equalised a minute later with a freak shot from far out. Gavin Jeffs made it 3-2 after 74 minutes. Rangers line-up:

Rangers finish 3rd in the Rangers Pre-Season Tournament after a 4-1 win over Avon United. Jason Stapley scored all four goals for Rangers including a penalty as he completed his hat-trick within half an hour, his fourth came 10 minutes into the second half. Avon scored a consolation in the last minute. Rangers line-up:
Stroud (Stuthridge HT); Sleeman, Harvey, Steel, T. Wilson (Best HT), D. Simpson, Howitt (Blaze HT), Woods (A. Killick 60), Jeffs, Stapley, G. Killick (K Tibble 68).
In the Final Western beat Christchurch United 3-0. Western scored twice around the half-hour mark and shortly after United had Halim Geor sent off by referee Walker for his second bookable offence, Western sealed the title with their third goal in the last minute.
In the Rangiora Womens Pre-Season Tournament Rangers beat Universities 4-0 and will contest the 3rd place playoff next week.

Can we play you every week, Avon?... after losing 4-0 (ouch!) to Western (ouch! ouch!) in the semi-final of the Rangers Tournament, Rangers will play Avon United in the 3rd place playoff on Sunday, after Avon lost 2-1 to Christchurch United. Also on Sunday, Christchurch United will play Western in some final or something... anyway we played Avon (and won 4-1) on 4 March, we play them again on Sunday and the following Saturday we play them in the opening round of the Federation League. Against Western it was 0-0 at half-time but Rangers should have had 2 goals (extra shooting practice required for Chris Peck). Western scored their goals at almost even intervals until the 75th minute. Rangers starting line-up:
Stuthridge; Steel, A. Killick, Harvey, D. Simpson, T. Wilson, Speirs, Wood, Jeffs, Stapley, Peck. Subs used included: G. Killick, Sadd, there may have been others but I couldn't see them (working on the gate).

Rangers' Tom Sadd and Russ Kamo are named in the New Zealand squad for the forthcoming U17 World Cup qualifiers. The team's matches are (all in Vanuatu): v Fiji (March 22); v Tonga (March 24); v Tahiti (March 28); v Vanuatu (March 30). The group winner will play Australia in the zone final to decide the Oceania qualifier for the World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago later this year.
It is reported from the Waikato that Gerard Hay (with Rangers last year) has been playing for Melville United in the Cambridge Tournament.

Rangers Reserves drew 1-1 with last year's Federation 6 Premier League Champions, Halswell United (first team), 1-1, in the Rangers Pre-Season Tournament. Andy Saunders scored with a header to equalise two-thirds of the way into the match after Keith Grosvenor gave Halswell the lead a minute before half-time. A great effort from the team with tenacious defending by Andy Saunders and Chris Brandon, marvellous saves from goalkeeper Jason Stuthridge and anchored by the performance of the Killicks, to mention some stand-out performances behind a great team effort. Well-done!
Meanwhile Rangers frst team had just beaten Halswell Reserves 3-0 with 2 goals to Gavin Jeffs (18 & 56 minutes) and one to Jason Stapley (74 minutes). Rangers line-up:

In the Rangiora Womnens Pre-Season Tournament, Rangers lost 3-0 to Halswell, an observer reports that Rangers dominated for 75% of the match.

Rangers will play Western in the semi-finals of the Rangers Pre-Season Tournament at 6.15pm on Wednesday 14 March following Avon's 3-0 win over Varsities and Christchurch United's 2-0 win over Western, that means Rangers win Group A and Western will finish runners-up in Group B (Christchurch United won Group B). Prior to that Rangers will play Halswell B on Sunday, with Halswell B needing to win 3-2 or better to have a chance of reaching the semis.

Rangers qualify for semi-finals of the Pre-Season Tournamnet with a 4-1 win over Avon United. Jason Stapley scored two, including a penalty. The other scorers were an own goal (a defelection off an Alan Spiers [a new signing from Scotland] free-kick) and Gavin Jeffs. Rangers line-up:

The other result saw a 0-0 draw between Halswell United and Christchurch United, meaning that Western qualify for the semi-finals and Rangers B are eliminated (despite still havcing to play Halswell).
In the Womens Pre-Season Tournament at Rangiora, Rangers lost 3-1 to Nomads.

Avon United (featuring former All White goalkeeper and Rangers player, Richard Wilson, and recently transferred from Rangers, Dave Shannon) recovered from a 4-1 deficit to draw 4-4 with Halswell B, ensuring Rangers stay top of the group at the Rangers Pre-Season Tournament. In the other group Western (with new signings Andy Daffin and Paul Stanley) beat Halswell 3-2, despite Western having a plyer sent off in the first half when the score was 0-0.
In the Kaiapoi Pre-Season Tournament, Rangers "reserves" lose 5-0 to Nomads United first team.

Four goals on debut for signing from New Brighton, Gavin Jeffs, give Rangers a 5-0 win over Universities in the Rangers Tournament. Jason Stapley got the other Rangers goal in the 49th minute. Rangers line-up:

In the early game Rangers B lost 1-0 to Christchurch United's first team who scored in the last minute. The match was notable for the return from last season's broken leg of Rangers' keeper Jason Stuthridge.

Rangers Reserves lose 2-0 to Kaiapoi Town's first team in the Kaiapoi Pre-Season Tournament. Rangers are second in the group behind Kaiapoi, after the other two teams, Ferrymead Bays and Nomads United (both first teams), drew 3-3.

The draw for the Rangers AFC 2001 Pre-Season Tournament is:
Group A: Avon United, Technical, Rangers, Universities
Group B: Halswell United, Woolston WMC, Western, Christchurch United
The tournament commences on Weds 21 February with Woolstton v Chrsitchurch United at 6.15pm followed by Rangers v Universities at 8pm. All games at Eric Adam Park (formerly Rangers Park). Two teams from each group qualify for the semi-finals with the Final on 18 March. Matches are Wednesdays 6.15pm and 8pm, and Sundays 1pm and 3pm.

The motions put to the AGM that: the name of "Rangers Park be changed to "Eric Adam Park"; and that Jim Hawkey be made a Life Member of Rangers, were both passed. An official renaming ceremony of the Park will be held in the pre-season.

The Nelson Mail reports that Nelson Suburbs have withdrawn from next year's National League due to financial difficulties (their finances would not have been aided by NZ Soccer increasing the entry fee by 75 percent to $35,000). Their first team will play next year in Federation 6 Premier League. However former Suburbs' coach Colin Tuaa (now at Manawatu) is predicting an exodus of players, including Julius Kolk, Jon Harahap and Paul Dirou.

A goal each for Sara Clapham and ex-Rangers' player Debra Hindle in Canterbury's 15 (FIFTEEN) - 0 win over Otago-Southland at the National Womens' Tournament. Canterbury have the bye tomorrow and meet title contenders 'Auckland' in the final round of the round-robin tournament on Saturday. That match will probably decide the title although Wellington have an outside chance too.

Adam Tibble captained Canterbury U18 in their 4-2 loss to Nelson U18 at QEII. Adam won everything in the air, but Mitch Brydon (who scored a hat-trick for Nelson) beat him almost evrytime on the ground... Adam won a couple of balls off him towards the end of the match, but was immediately hacked down by Brydon on both occasions.

Rangers season ends with a trophy! The Masters Division 1 Cup following an 8-0 win over Parklands. In Division 2, Spikes lose 2-0 to Technical B in a niggly match. Reserves lose 2-1 to Halswell in their Cup final despite NZU16 squad member Russ Kamo scoring for Rangers within the first three minutes.

Rangers lose 8-2 to Nomads Blue in a semi-final of Womens Division 1 Cup at Cuthberts Green. Megan Andrews scored both Rangers' goals from long range to twice equalise before two goals late in the half gave Nomads a 4-2 half-time lead.
