Like most clubs, ours is indebted to committee members, officers and club members outside the committee.
Bede Kearney, as Chairman, has provided experience and guidance at the helm for the last 4 years and his leadership will be missed. This period has seen a drastic turnaround in the club, both financially and in playing strength.
Frank Klomp continued in the Treasurers' office with efficient administration of the club's finances, and kept the committee well informed. Although new to the Treasurers' job, he has been a Masters B player for many years. I know that Ken Pash, who is working on the audit of Frank's Statement of Accounts for 2000, is highly delighted to receive them presented in such a professional manner.
Ken "the gear man" Haymes did the Club Captains' job well and got into fundraising, organising club garage sales and "sausage sizzles" to boost club funds. Ken steps down this year but will still be active around the club.
Ron Griffiths continued in the PR role and organised the excellent Quiz evenings.
Phil Clayton published the "Rangers Ramblings" and looked after our website, keeping us up to date on the world wide web.
Lee Hawkey contributed everywhere. From looking after gear to acting in liaison to the new womens members she was ever present.
Ed Heald continued with the responsibility for looking after grounds, assisted in the later season by Bryan Ives.
Kees Wittemann became the 5th "Spike" to join the executive committee and he introduced us to the great support from Ferrymead Bar & Restaurant.
Outside the formal committee, others also have to be thanked. Ric & Reta Fitzpatrick for their untiring loyalty with the shop, bar, Housie and the 5-a-side tournament. The accounts show the significance of their input.
Terry Marsh and the Junior committee are to be thanked for organising and contributing a very strong junior year.
Alan Smythe keeps his hand in with administration of the "pokey" machines.
And finally, a big thanks to my "assistant acting secretary" Anne-Marie for all the secretarial help. My challenge to all the senior players is to see more of you become involved in the management of your club. Believe me it can be very rewarding. Don't leave it all to the "Spikes".
