Shaggers Win First, Get Soaked in the Nightcap
The Shaggers beat Certainteed 13 - 11 in the opening game of Thursday nights double header.  The Shaggers didn't fare as well in the second game though.  Leading in the bottom of the 1st inning 1 - 0 the skies opened up and flooded field #1 at the Rock.  The game was called and will be rescheduled in the future.

Shaggers Splinter Paxton Lumber
The Shaggers completed a sweep of Paxton late Thursday night.  The Shaggers controlled both games throughout the night and trailed only briefly in both games.  The two Shagger victories pulled them within one game of second place.

Taylor, Bean Find Nothing in Las Vegas

Moments after Bean and Taylor leave Las Vegas this picture of Taylor was released over the internet by an unidentified source.
Director of security Dave Taylor and outfielder Chris Bean find no phony photo ring in Las Vegas .  After countless hours of searching casinos, nightclubs, and brothels no evidence was found to indicate a phony picture ring.  Bean was quoted minutes after leaving a Celine Dion concert at Ceasar’s Palace, “We’ve searched everywhere and everybody and just can’t find anything.  Maybe the photo taken of coach Gale was real.  We just won’t know until we sit down and talk with coach one on one.”

Shaggers Forfeit First, Win Second Game Against Harley-Davidson
The Shaggers were missing three players when game time rolled around on their first game against HD which lead to a forfeit.  Shagger players tried to do anything they could to keep from forfeiting.  Reports from Gladstone this morning say that Shagger sub Mike Scott even tried to give an umpire $10 to start the game late.  Sources close to the Shagger Organization deny any wrong doing.  In the nightcap the Shaggers run ruled HD 18 - 8 in 5 innings.

Taylor, Bean Head to Vegas to Find Phony Picture Ring
The Shaggers have called up two players from their farm clubs to replace Taylor and Bean in the lineup this week.  Director of Security Dave Taylor and RF Chris Bean will miss Thursday's game to find the culprit of phony pictures published of long time Shagger coach Steve Gale.

Shaggers Split with ABBC
The Shaggers started the season off with a bang winning the first game of a double header against ABBC but fell in the nightcap.

HITTING TIP OF THE WEEK
Mechanics of the Swing:

Use a 1-2-3-4 approach. Do this after you are balanced. As the pitcher commits to pitch (his front crosses the rubber or moves forward to the plate) follow these steps.

1. Turn left shoulder in slightly.
2. Stride directly toward the pitcher - landing softly. Extremely important to keep hands back on the stride. When the front foot lands, the hands should be back.
3.Squash a bug with your back foot, but don't turn (roll) your ankle over, you'll lose balance.
4. Follow through with your swing.

Tips:

Remember to relax. Holding the bat with a loose top hand helps you to be loose up top. You will automatically tighten up when you swing.
