  IRANI GAMEFOWL BREEDS
Iran , as many other Arabic countries seen from its history has been  acting as a crossroad  for the East -West trade throughout the centuries. Arabic traders   went to many countries in East & West Asia such like India (including Pakistan ), Sri Lanka (Ceylon), China, Afghanistan and other destinations in Asia.

The majority of Iranian gamecocks originate from the Indian subcontinent and Pakistan. The overall discription of  Iranian gamefowl can be discribed as being of the large Asil type. Weight range ± 4 to 5 Kgs.

A good number of gamefowl in Iran comes from  neighbouring Afghanistan. These "Afghani"  have also a good reputation among Iranian cockers.

A very specific type is bred in the Lar region ( South of Iran). Concerning type and typical breeding points a "Lari" gamecock  does show Malayoid and Bankiva characteristics.
