This year's Canam run
was the Mother Hash run number 2992 and was held in Bandar Technology in
Kajang on the 2ndJuly 2001.With the continuous development happening
in Malaysia new areas are always being created which allows us different
access into some of the running areas. This run area we have been to before
but never entered from this side, the new roads into the new development
give us this freedom.
The CANAM Run is one
of the gazetted runs that Mother Hashers look forward to. This year's run
lived up to its expectations, Despite having a fresh set of team members
(Salim and Jim), Ted Quirk was able to fire up his team to set yet another
memorable run.
The venue at the Kajang
Technology Park was the same as the one where Handsome Tan and his 10 co-hares
(including Peter Cushion) set a run where the FROPs returned after 8:00
pm. Taking cognisance of the screw-up, Ted timed his run such a way that
the FROPs led by Opera,Wong Chee Keong, Mike Kuan, Kong Kok Keong (Ah Bee)
and Paul Chapman were back by 7:25 pm. Mike Kuan tore off his T-shirt at
the beginning of the run to show the world what a body he has. "It was
itchy at first but then I got used to it" he said.
Everyone I talked
to loved the run even though it was a fast-paced run. Except for the first
check (which took a considerable long time to break), the rest of
the checks were broken with ease. The pace was furious and the weather
was hot but that proved to be a challenge for Matsallehs such as coach
Jorg Teichmann and Danny McBride. Regulars Goh Khoon Soon, Hiew, Jake Wing,
Lum Sui, Michael Lee and the evergreen Martin King all said they had good
workouts. For those preparing for the Ball Breaker Run this Sunday including
brothers, Ramboo Tau Foo Soo Thiam Yau & Soo Thim Mun, Chong Mun Yon,
Young Yap and Chris Tan, it was a heaven-sent run as they were able to
test their running power, speed and endurance.
Welcome back Fuckawee
after a long absence and also Freddie Santapillai who has recovered from
his fall. "In two week's time I would have recovered completely" he said.
Of course not forgetting Alistair and Brian Cossar who run with us occasionally.
Verdict: Thank
you Ted, Jim and Salim for the fantastic run and the matching T-shirt
and shorts. All in, it was another great evening. On On.
