Rat was traded to the East Hartford Kings in the fall of 1983.  He had long earned a reputation in the tennis courts as a physical player with a scoring touch.  At the tender age of 16, it did not take him long to start dropping bodies and begin to earn the reputation he now so enthusiastically enjoys.  His fighting skills have become legendary and he displayed a willingness to use them right from the start, despite the fact he was years younger than many of his victims.

His time as a King, Rat has been a member of five championship teams, been banned from two rinks, suspended numerous times and responsible for starting three bench clearing brawls (Stallions, Rangers and of course, the Blackhawks).  He is the Kings all-time penalty minute leader and the all-time penalty minute leader for the Bloomfield rink (which he has still yet to see a trophy for).

Rat is currently one of the Kings' first team all-stars as a defenseman.  However, many of his most outstanding moments came as a goaltender.  His strong play in goal helped the Kings win their first championship and his play in Bloomfield's final tournament is the stuff legends are made of.  In his final season as a King, Rat has spent much of his time on the disabled list.  And like that player that hung around one year too many, he is finally coming to the realization that it's time to get out.  He’s washed up.  Like Terry O’Rielly, he can’t pass, can’t shoot, can’t fight, can’t run and has a bad elbow and a swollen brain.
Rat will long be remembered for the Blackhawks brawl, pounding Chris Atkinson’s rib so hard it could be heard clear on the other side of the parking lot, laying Mike Blair out with the crosscheck of the gods, getting the only hooking major in Dek-hockey history, spearing Pat Naughton, being kicked out of Waterbury for fighting too many times, falling down his cellar stairs at a King party, sleeping in a dumpster behind Hockey World, dating the Hawkwoman (AKA lead singer from the 80’s group Flock of Seagulls), not only marrying Cindy but knocking her up three times, being a co-founder of the animal wrestling league, sleeping in a swamp, yacking at every Kings party, killing both Kenneth and Mario (pet rats), passing out on his front lawn, getting kicked out of Plainville for life for fighting too many times, challenging an entire team to fight him at one time, knobbing Aubey at the tennis courts, destroying Jim Scott at Hockanum school, being Richard Kukla’s twin brother, and being one of only two players in team history to win a championship at forward, defense and in goal.

Rat lists the things he would like to forget as;  his marriage, playing quarters against Mike Flannery, Alex going top shelf on him as a member of the Ratts, his concussion, that he is not as good a defensive third baseman as TF Cormier, losing in the finals in 1997, being kissed by Mike Connors, and not getting a chance to dot Mike Blair's forehead one last time.

His hopes for the future are that he gets to play again before the season ends, he doesn’t impregnate any one else, his new dead pool pick survives until the next draft, that the Kings go out on a winning note, and that at some point will be able to inflict revenge on #11 for the Dreamers for making his brain inflame.
