This is the search for America's next big singing sensation. Thousands of hopefuls flock to various cities around the country each year & audition in an attempt to gain an invitation to the next round in Hollywood. Many are bad, some are funny, and some have talent. After a few more elimination rounds in Hollywood, the field is narrowed down to 12. Then the competition begins. Ryan Seacrest hosts while the contestants sing their hearts out and face the 3 judges: Paula, Simon, and Randy. America votes via phone calls and text messages every week...the person with the lowest amount of votes is eliminated and sent home. Week after week, this process continues until there is only 1 person remaining. They are given a recording contract and will forever hold the title of American Idol.
