MATCH REPORT |
|
|
|
We all feared the worse and expected another European hangover, but thank god we managed to get the all important 3 points.
It was a must win game as Man Utd did not have a game, it was one of our games in hand with anything but a win would be curtains for us.
At last Vialli stuck to his strongest side apart from Leboeuf and Wise who were both suspended and the addition of Hogh and Morris it was the same side that beat Feyenoord.
The game itself was by no means a classic and Chelsea yet again let down by poor finishing, will we ever try to not walk the ball into the net?
Flo's goal was a simple tap in from a Zola corner and apart from easy chances not taken by Zola, Poyet and Flo's header that had clearly crossed the line and was not given, we could and should won more comfortably.
But if you cant finish teams off, there is always a chance that the opposition could equalise, and to be fair we lived on our nerves to the bitter end when there was no real need to do so.
They never looked like scoring and Ed De Goey was mostly a spectator all afternoon, with the Sky cameras there I dont think the game would of showed the viewers our true potential.
Still 3 points the easy way or the hard way is waht we needed, but we still need that 25 goals a season striker.
Up to 8th in the League with 2 games in hand over Leeds, it is not over yet
