MATCH REPORT |
|
|
|
He's There, He's There, He's name is Georgie Weah, Georgie Weah" sang the Stamford Bridge crowd
The game was a typical London derby with Tottenham opting for a 5 man defence and Chelsea to be fair never looked like scoring all night and we have to thank Ed De Goey who made some telling saves as Tottenham could well of been infront at the interval.
Apart from a shot hitting the bar from the impressive Harley and a few half chances from distance, Walker was untroubled.
Chelsea continued to presure Tottenham in the 2nd half and the game was looking every bit a draw, however things were to dramaticaly change when Sutton came on for the innefectual Poyet and Weah on for the tireing Flo Chelsea seemed to find new impetus and looked dangerous once more.
With 3 minutes to go Lambourde found Wise out on the right who flighted in a lovely cross to be met by Weah who powerfully headed home.
What was to follow was amazing with just about every player jumping onto Weah to celebrate his 1st goal for Chelsea and to put a smile back on every Chelsea fans face.
What Weah offered was everything we had been lacking so far this season, "A real eye for goal and pace, real pace".
So Chelsea up to 6th in the Premiership and a Champions League spot still very much up for grabs.
Georgie Weah had only trained with the players for 30 minutes but showed signs last night that he might just turn Chelsea's flagging season around
Viva Georgie Weah
