MATCH REPORT

A very comfortable victory in the hailing wind and rain blowing in from the North Sea.

And Vialli's Southern Softies dissappointed the media who were hungry for news of another domestic defeat for the Blues.

Chelsea in fact shut up all their critics with a wonderfull display with Gus scoring his first hatrick in this country, the first goal being a thunderbolt leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

With youngster John Harley tearing the Hull defence to shreds down the left side and providing brilliant crosses, a cricket score looked on the cards.

Chelsea's second goal came from "wait for it" Chris Sutton with a great header following another brilliant cross from Harley.

Sutton showed how much he wanted the goal by afterwards jestering the Hull City fans who constantly barracked him all afternoon.

Gus got his second with a simple tap in and we looked home and dry but Hull responded with some urgency and got their reward with a goal against the run of play.

If Hull thought that the goal was going to start a revival, Gus had other plans and scored his 2nd from a simple tap in.

The 2nd half was still in its infancy when Roberto Di Matteo got onto the scoresheet with one of his specials from outside the box.

Chelsea looked to have taken the foot well and truly off the peddle but did not count on a hungry Poyet wanting to finish Hull well and truly off with another goal and his hatrick.

Credit must go to Hull who never gave up the battle but worse was to follow when Wise went on a jinking run and his shot was deflected off Edwards into the net on the stroke of 90 minutes.

A great performance by Chelsea, lets hope this is the turning point in our domestic season.

The next step, lets get after the leading pack in the Premiership
