Anzac Day April 25 2008
Plains Rangers 0, Internationale 2.
Well, it's Anzac Day, and Wett did say to come well dressed. Kirk
is never shy of putting his fashion sense on the line. Note the matching
accessories for the Anzac Day poppy. |
Even Bas is impressed! |
In the first half, our strikers were receiving the ball well and
feeding it off to the midfield. Here's Jimmy, with Bas behind him
and Josh, before he got stretchered off, holding centre midfield. |
Closer up, you can see Jimmy has his eye on the next move of his
opponent. Draw him in ... then pass it. |
Sometimes the Inter centre defenders won the ball. Jezza comes across
to gather. |
Down in our defence, Mark is pursued out as he clears the ball.
Kirk and Bas are ready to help if needed. |
Into the second half, a goal and player down, here's Kirk at work
seeing the ball to safety. |
Bas puts pressure on at the attacking end. You can see why Bas got
player of the day. He's in nearly all these shots, at both ends of
the pitch, like a good centre midfielder should be. |
If Wett calls for it, the Rangers players know to stay out of his
road. The Inter players learnt after a while! |
This Inter striker was hopeful he might miss a catch, but that's
a rare event. Very rare. |
Bazza brings the ball up the middle, Caleb makes a good run... |
The Inter defence clear a free kick, with Bas lurking ready to
pounce. The final score, Rangers 0, Inter 2. Rangers exit their
first Chatham Cup.
