In a forgettable performance, Plains Rangers could not capitalise on
having a good share of possession against Rotorua Suburbs.
Rangers played into a stiff breeze in the first half, and held the home
team out for thirty minutes. Suburbs opened the scoring when a long ball
across goal found a striker with plenty of space to slot the ball home.
Rangers came close to equalising when Aaron Muggeridge was put through
on goal, but his shot was saved.
In the second half, Suburbs made the most of their chances to shoot out
to a three goal lead. Rangers couldn't get their passing game going, and
wasted scoring chances by shooting from long range. The final score Rotorua
Suburbs 3, Plains Rangers 0.
Captain Jason Pullar was named player of the day for his efforts in defence.
This coming Saturday, Rangers will have to improve their form when they
host the winners of the Eastern qualifying group Rotorua Boys High School.
