Local knowledge of their small sized home pitch helped Greerton get off to a good start against Gary Fowell Builders Plains Rangers on Saturday. Rangers didn't take long to adapt, but found themselves a goal down against the run of play. Greerton blasted the ball home from a cross. Dan Logan evened the scores when he did well to finish from a tight angle after beating the keeper in a one-on-one.
In the second half, Rangers gained the upper hand and took the lead through a well-taken Simon Gowing goal. Rangers pressed and looked to extend their advantage, but couldn't finish Greerton off. A misunderstanding at the back allowed the home team back in and they took advantage, making the final score 2 - 2.
