A depleted Gary Fowell Builders Plains Rangers received
a footballing lesson at the hands of Ngongotaha Raukura on Saturday. Rangers
traveled to Ngongotaha for their BOP division one clash, missing several
players through injury and work commitments.
From the outset the home team played good flowing football and Rangers
had to defend more than they would have liked. By half time, Ngongotaha
led three nil.
After the break Rangers had their best period, putting together some good
attacking moves. Jordan Ogilvy headed in a Brandon Collier cross. Ogilvy
then had a goal disallowed for offside, and player of the day Barrie Hawkes,
and Aaron Muggeridge went close. However, Ngongotaha weathered the storm
and then reasserted control, running out the winners 8 - 1.
Rangers will want to put this result behind them quickly, but this Saturday
they have a difficult mission at home to league leaders Katikati, who
have clocked up 12 goals in their three games so far, without conceding.
Kick off at Awakeri is at 2.30 pm.
