Plains Rangers AFC

Sept 17th 2005 v Te Puke

Plains Rangers Edgecumbe finished their season with a good win in a BOP 1st division catch-up game on Saturday. Rangers were home to Te Puke and an entertaining game ensued. Bas Overdevest opened the scoring with a nice strike from 20 metres, but the visitors came back and equalised before the break.
Rangers were playing some attractive football and quite a few chances were created. James Mitchell and Aaron Muggeridge both had goals disallowed for close off-side decisions, while Mark Thompson managed to bounce a shot off the keeper, repeat the feat and then have his third attempt cleared off the line!
More good work from Overdevest set up Matt Ward for an easy goal, with a ball squared across the face of the Te Puke goal. A good clearance from keeper Matt Aberhart, playing in his last game for Rangers, was headed on by Overdevest and then put away by Muggeridge, and Rangers ended with a 3 - 1 win.
For Rangers, player of the day was defender Mark Jeynes.
