Boogie Woogie, formerly known as Gene Tedder the backstage janitor, had a slight accident with a large jug of cleaning solution. The jug fell off the shelf, bopped him in the head, and knocked him retarded.
Instead of sueing, he agreed he would drop the case if owner Combs made him a wrestler. Then and there, he was transformed into the disco loving Boogie Woogie. Further down the road, he was assigned to dispose of Father Nelson's body, after his untimely death. When Boogie completed the task, he began acting strange and changed his name to Boogie Nelson.
