Dog Bowl 2000, Game 1: The Dawgs vs The Reds (July 8, 1pm) Dog Bowl 2000, Game 2: The Tailgaters vs The Stoners (July 22, 1pm) What is the Dog Bowl? It's eight fans playing against eight other fans in an Arena-rules flag football game right on the Arena turf. The Dog Bowl takes place a few hours before a Red Dogs home game. We playeed the last two years and had so much fun, we're doing it again. About the game itself, it's more fun than competitive. It's about as intense as a weekend pick-up game between a bunch of thirty-somethings can get. Yeah, we try to win, but there's no hard core players here. We play Arena rules. Motion. Balls off the nets. No punting. We get PA announcers and full use of the scoreboard. One game is made up of two 20-minute halves. Think that's short? It ain't. Try it. We get tired. Last year The Tailgaters beat The Stoners 20-8, and the Reds and Dawgs are familiar foes. In 1998, the Dawgs shut out the Reds 40-0 and in 1999 the Reds made it more of a game, but still lost 22-8. We'll see how it all shakes out in July. If you're interested in playing in Dog Bowl 2000, e-mail Bruce DiBisceglie.
