1999 Men's USPRO Championship Race & Womens Liberty Classic
June 6, 1999This race is the pinnacle of US professional racing. Each year thousands of fans line the course waiting to see who will be their next championship. This year was a wonderful event from the moment I got in the hotel. I stepped into the elevator at the hotel only to see George Hincapie's father. I have met Mr. Hincapie over the years and talk to him at length about one of my favorite riders, George. I had hoped to see George go for a double but was just as estatic to see Marty Jemison get the Stars and Stripes. Marty is such an amazing and I think under recognized rider. Marty is such an approachable person and will make a fantastic US Champion.
