Overview: Since 1984, rhythmic gymnasts have competed for Olympic medals. Rhythmic gymnastics incorporates dance, music, and hand apparatuses. Acrobatic moves are not allowed.
Events: the rope, the hoop, the ball, the clubs, and the ribbon.
Scoring: Two panels of judges score rhythmic gymnasts. One panel judges the composition and the other panel judges the execution.
