I watched Master Sawyer with his students. I saw in him a gentle but firm man. That day watching him, I saw a great respect and devotion between himself and his students. It was as though he was a father figure to them. With a smile from him they would be inspired. I saw the same respect and devotion between himself and Grand Master Park. Grand Master Park
put on a demonstration. He used sickles, it was absolutely amazing. I was very impressed. Master Sawyer watched him and you could see the respect and admiration in his eyes.
The one thing that caught my heart was Master Sawyers Brown belt Clyde. He was fighting against a Black Belt. Anyway, Clyde watched the Black Belt very carefully waiting to attack. The Black Belt kept doing a spinning hook. On the winning point, Clyde waited for the Black Belt to put his foot down. Then Clyde punched him in the center of his chest.
Therefore winning the match. Clyde's hand was raised as the winner. The whole stadium filled with cheering. The look on Master Sawyers face was pride like a father would look at his son.
The whole day was inspiring it brought the desire I thought I had lost, back. The desire to want and absorb knowledge from a True Master. I saw in Master Sawyer, what I longed for all along. He is a Master who should have been born centuries ago. When a Master was followed because of the love of teaching the martial arts. In the 9 years of being in Tae Kwon Do, never had I met a Master or a man such as he.
I knew in my heart he could give me the true gift of Tae Kwon Do. In the last three years Master Sawyer has given me more knowledge and skill then anyone. I feel as though he is the brother, I had lost long ago. Master Sawyer is to me the greatest man I know. I respect him as my Instructor and a friend. I Love him and his family. They have become my extended family. I feel after years of searching, I have come Home.
