This Secretarial Report on the 1993 season was the first report prepared specifically for the Midland Cricket Club Conference and appeared in their 1994 yearbook.

 

LICHFIELD NOMADS CRICKET CLUB

1993 Report

The Nomads made moderate progress during 1993, with positive results in the last 2 months a rare event.

The batting was again headed by the consistent efforts of P Gardner who scored 649 runs at 35.89with a best of 115*. D May had only a brief season but his 4 innings produced 211 at 52.75 with a best of 73. M Heslington hit his maiden 50 and achieved272 at 19.43. M Pinfield hit a modest 281 runs at 15.61.

The bowling, which at the end of June had 3 strike bowlers with an average of less than 13.50, tapered off badly. Only Heslington with 45 wickets at 15.60 maintained a consistent performance during the whole season. P Fearon achieved a notable 7-40 and finally took 25 wickets at 17.84. Captain J Healy also took29 wickets at16.66 with a best performance of 6-9. C Rowland, a victim of only taking 1 wicket in Aug/Sept still took a commendable 25 wickets at23.68. Finally M Smith took 23 wickets at 23.91

In the field, A Hussein had an outstanding season, which was rewarded with the Fielder of the Year trophy for his consistent performance
