LICHFIELD NOMADS CRICKET CLUB
1996 Report
The nomads, under the captaincy of M Pinfield, went undefeated at home during a summer that produced a rare tied match against JTHS. Good victories at Gnosall and Tamworth ensured a season of 8 wins, 4draws and 8 defeats.
Batting this year had 4 Nomad batsmen averaging over 40 by the end of the season. Ings finished the season top of the batting averages with 508 runs at 63.50.Gardner finished as overall leading run scorer for the season with838 runs at 52.38. This was complimented by Heslington who provided 456 runs at 24.00 and Captain Pinfield who a healthy 393 runs at43.67.
Heslington who took 32 wickets at 14.38 in a season where he was the only bowler to have a bowling average of less than 20 dominated bowling. Willis who had his best season with the ball taking 16 wickets 21.31 ably supported him. There were also good contributions from Fearon with 13 wickets at 22.69 and Hoddy 14 wickets at 24.14.
